The Porch

Well, we spent the day finally getting the porch in order at home...don't want to miss another pretty morning or evening out there ! We love our outdoor spaces, for morning coffee, an afternoon nap, an evening dinner and a nighttime campfire.

Last summer we happened to get an amazing mid-century glider and two chairs in very sweet condition.

Didn't take me but a half a minute to sell what we had in the porch and decide that the  glider and chairs were gonna be ours for awhile.

I need to grab a few more plants for the urns and get a new rug. And I think I'm going to repaint some vintage slat chairs in white to pull everything together. But for now, this evening, it's nice to lounge here in my pajamas, having a moment to myself.

Porches, patios and decks are such a great place to have fun with decor. We want to help you with YOUR outdoor space !

Kitchen update

Yes. Ben and Rebecca's kitchen is getting close to finishing. A lot has happened in the past several weeks... These DIY budget projects take some time, and much work on everyone's part to make it happen. We last left the kids finishing the wood floor:

And here it is! They did a great job and were able to realize their vision under all those layers of linoleum!

The cabinets are all painted and have new hardware :

And the sink and countertops are installed.
They chose reclaimed bowling alley for their countertop. After a thorough sanding and trimming, it ends up being an enviable, gorgeous option. It will be finished with a food grade mineral oil/wax.

Today the subway tile backsplash goes in... And check out the stainless hood vent that a friend installed!

Notice the beadboard that now covers the old concrete chimney? JR added that to tie in with the beadboard in other areas of the kitchen.  The walls and beadboard all got a fresh coat of white paint which, along with the white subway tile is going to create such a light and bright space loaded with texture.

I've never been so excited to see a project come together!
